Main duties and responsibilities
- Negotiate with vendors for the best price purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services used by Kronospan
- Conduct research on new supplies and materials
- Communicate with production, maintenance, and stores to ensure proper part type and quantity are ordered
- Solicit bids and examine quotes
- Assist accounting department in establishing account/credit and terms
- Negotiate blanket purchase orders and monitor cost during the designated time period
- Review requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
- Follow up on receipt of goods
- Maintain positive relationship with vendors
- Reconcile all documents associated with orders placed to ensure accuracy
- Post invoices
- Acts as a mediator, as required, between users and suppliers concerning delivery, quality, pricing issues, etc.
- Assist in Request for Quote or product bids, including preparation, analysis, evaluation and implementation.
- Receive, analyze, and resolve supplier inquiries, disputes, and payment discrepancies
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Strong customer service skills and sense of urgency
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience as an MRO or raw materials buyer
- Advanced skills using Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience working within the purchasing module of an ERP system
- Ability to work in a team environment
